The Set Starter
Edge |
| Weight
Training. To achieve the best results with weight training, muscles
need to reach an ideal level of fatigue before being challenged again.
Monitoring recovery time between weight lifting sets is the most effective
way to do this. |
Set Starter allows you to consistently monitor recovery time -- and still
be able to listen to music or get a drink of water -- without having to
watch the clock. |
| Track
and Cross Country. Track coaches use a technique called "interval
training with equal recovery" where athletes run for 30 seconds then
rest for 30 seconds. This sequence is repeated 10-20 times. The interval
time depends on training goals. |
This
type of training is cumbersome for coaches monitoring a large team. They
often have to shout across a track and battle to be heard. With Set Starter,
athletes can follow an individualized "interval/equal recovery"
plan and coaches are freed from holding the stopwatch. |
| Intensity
Training. This type of training involves 20-40 second bursts of intensity
added to any aerobic activity - like running, cycling, swimming, rowing,
stair climbing - that help you build endurance and speed. |
Set
Starter lets you easily add any number of intensity bursts to your aerobic
activity without having to watch the clock or program a digital watch. |
| Speed
Drills. For years, amateur and professional athletes have used sport-specific
speed drills to improve performance. For example, basketball players will
perform timed dribbling, shooting, running and jumping drills to enhance
speed and accuracy. |
Traditionally,
athletes have had to rely on coaches or trainers to monitor speed drills.
With Set Starter, the convenient one-touch operation allows the athlete
and the trainer to be one and the same. |
| Fartlek
Training. Fartlek is a type of interval training used by long distance
runners to stress both the aerobic and anaerobic energy pathways. Using
this training technique, runners will perform a series of varying timed
intervals at varying intensity levels. |
Set Starter
takes the complexity out of accurately timing Fartlek training intervals.
Once you program* a varied series of intervals into Set Starter, you can
concentrate on your run - not on your watch. |
